My son sat on from 7 months like that with no hat. There was no way on this earth he was in any danger. He is 4 now and rides well and has a very good seat!

There is always one who just has to say something isn't there?

Here is one of his early days riding, he used to come to work with me everyday so had no choice, i wasn't carrying him when we walked our riders out!

As a responsible Auntie I made my niece wear a hat (else her ears would have got cold)!

enfys ... you only have one head and one neck! and they dont heal too well. i have known several people good riders good horses break their backs and necks from falling off. one of my best friends died in a stubble field from a simple fall that broke her neck! and no horse is 100 % reliable/safe as they have their own brain and their own agenda. but hey ho stick your head in the sand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! little children can have little hats and reduce the risk!. my godson who is 2 rides his shetland, but never ever without a hat!that was fitted properly.

Actually I searched high and low for little hats, brought the smallest I could find which my niece has just grown into. As for horror stories, hell I know someone who has been in a coma for 4yrs after falling down a step. Perhaps we should all live nice as safe in little bubbles.

ok so u point out where i can get a cheap hat for a 10 month old that will grow with his head and ill look into it

u can hurt/die any where any place a seatbelt can kill u
as the OP im not asking for opinions on hats im showing everyone some pictures not getting into this debate because A had sh** day and i mean really really sh** day B im proud of this pics as my son loved it

Forget it M, you can't and I think your pics are great.

You can get them for when they are 2/3yrs - Try the One Stop Pony Shop (they even have adjustable hats!!! - but still won't go small enough for now).

Mine started in the womb - (LOL, there's another debate

)

Don't fret about other's comments about hats - I suspect they are not mothers who naturally take the greatest of care and know when and where their child is put in danger.

Sleep well, you will love that site some of the stuff is sooooooo cute!!!

P.S. Ignore the negative comments, every non-hat wearing pic gets them.

Oh come ON,should we also pop a hat on babies when picking them up in case they get dropped?
There are adult hands in the shot(even if the adult choose to hide

) they look safe as anything to me and extremly sweet

Well, if we're on about keping safe- better not go anywhere near horses in the first place.

My OH has been left with severe life long back pain caused by his seatbelt during a car accident. There's risks in whatever activity one chooses to partake in and a riding hat will only prevent head injuries.

Heaven forbid anyone actually enjoys themselves. I'm sure as a mother, the OP would not have put her 10month old son at any real risk. Enjoy the pictures for what they are.

Those pics are adorable! (as are the littluns!)
And anyone with a half a brain can a) see that the babies + horse are being held and b) realise that the likelihood of finding a hat for a baby that age would be rather slim
