Its going very well :)

I went into the kitchen today and dropped some food on the floor and couldn't pick it up fast enough as I've been ill and Benjie lunged at it and I said "Bed" and he went to his bed :D

As its early stages it doesn't work all the time and he was chilling out earlier and my cat came over scratched him then when Benjie got up the cat just went to sleep in his bed despite having his own bed  You gotta love the way cats do things!

So we've had to seperate the cat and dog whilst we've been training Benjie because the cat is not helping.

We bought him one of those tennie ball flingers yesterday aswell and this has seemed to help him a lot aswell he's coming back from his walks calmer :)

However, he's worked out that all he has to do is get the ball and he won't bring it back, well he will bring it back but he won't drop it for you :p So we worked out today to bring two balls so you throw one and pick up the one he just brought back to you, just not looking forward to him learning to pick up both balls :p

Thank you for the advice I got on here I can't wait until the training has really started working as I've already seen an improvement :)

Excellent!
I would recommend a crate to anyone getting a puppy - Purdey still loves hers and she is 11 months old now. We don't often shut the door on it now though - she stays in it by choice.

my 10 year old collie still uses his crate! doesnt get shut in but having his own "den" has been amazing for him!
He uses it now to get away from the girls and the puppy..and the cats!:)

And he is also a tennis ball addict but thankfully brings them back and drops them when asked! although if your not quick enough he gives it an extra nudge in your direction to make sure you get the gist!! :D
