I think if you go on to the BHS website there is information on there about starting your own club?

was going to find out if you needed insurance but i was not sure on what type etc

If you go onto the BHS website, it gives information on how to start, how much it costs etc. It is quite pricey and you need to have a fair few members to make it worthwhile. However, if you don't want to have an affiliated club, it would be cheaper, but the insurance angle would still need to be taken care of.
