So Ive given my boy about a month off and want to get back into schooling in Jan...
I was wondering what advice people could give as he gets pretty bored within the first 10 minutes....
I want something that will help him to listen really and keep him interested....
I tend to do figures of 8 and tight circles to keep him motivated but thats all I really know...!! He is 5 yrs old...
Help!!

If he has had a month off he should still be relatively fit, however its a battle keeping them entertained and not doing too much "tight" work! I'd steer clear of small circles for a while as he wont be as supple as he was before..... can you not re establish some schooling whilst out hacking? leg yielding, go into a field and do circles/figures of 8 in the great outdoors! Make it more like a hack with little snippets and hopefully as your out and about this should keep the attention span!
good luck!

lots of leg yielding, first to the track, then a zig-zag line in and out from the track, changing bend before changing direction. i find mine really enjoy this, don't get bored by it, cos i can vary the number of steps etc.
