I wish to start an equine retail buisiness, online to start with, can anyone advise what you need to allow wholesalers to let you buy from them?
Any other advice would be appriciated!
You don't need anything more than enough money. I've paid upfront on first purchase(s) and then gone to 30day credit with some, always upfront with others. Never touched the horse world though.
I wouldn't touch an equine online business without plenty of people recommending though, so make sure you keep on top of it. Email any enquiries back promptly, have phone and email contact, process orders quickly and keep people informed of stock items or likely delays.
I assume you've looked into the legal aspects too? Tax etc.
There was a post on this in what was the careers section not so long ago - I'm sorry but I don't feel like re-writing all of it. Another poster (sorry can't spell it!) also posted. She gave some very helpful tips along with my own comments.
BTW many decent wholesalers won't give terms to a new online retailer, without large order quantities!
Best kept secret in UK are STS in walsall, brilliant friendly firm to deal with- ive bought from all the big companies in the UK and these are the only company who actually stock what they say they stock.
