So I havent ever posted much and always been more of a lurker however the few times I have posted I have received some really good advice so here goes! I also have a new username as I couldnt remember my log in!
I recently got a new horse, not intentionally I gave up and wasnt meant to get another but somehow this lovely mare ended up in my hands. She is an IDXTB 6 yrs. old.
I have only had her couple of months and she is going really well. She is very green and hasnt done anything as she was backed as a 3-4yr old but then incurred a couple of injuries putting her out of action until she was 5 so is more like a 4yr old.
On the flat she is going nicely still a little babyish in the canter but getting better and better every session and walk and trot is lovely.
I have been doing pole work and she has taken to it very easily so in the last week I have started doing a little cross pole, at first she was fab really keen and popping over nicely with no issues.
I jumped her at the weekend, again only a tiny cross however she mis-judged it and tripped nearly falling over and then bucked to regain her balance but it really upset her, I calmed her down and took her over again to get her confidence back and she was really backing off so I kicked her on and she launched it from a standstill jumping it huge and throwing me onto her neck this really unsettled her and since then she really isnt happy. If I try and pop her over a jump now she keeps running out and not happy about doing it although before this she was so keen
Im worried Ive ruined it and ruined her confidence, she is meant to be my next event horse and genuinely think she is so lovely so really hope this isnt it! Any ideas on how to get her confidence back and get her enjoying it again, feel like its all my fault and Ive caused the issue
Any help would be much appreciated! I have cake and sweets to offer!
