I've been working hard with my lad on our jumping & we are currently jumping 80cm at home. We aren't doing too bad & I've decided to take him out & start competing BSJA. I going to go out at club level for a year & then move up if we do well :)

I just have a few questions & I'm hoping you guys can help.

Here goes;

1)Jackets. I've read the handbook & am under the impression there is no restriction on colour (other than that reserved for the British team).? I'll probably buy a navy one eventually but is grey okay.?

2)Stock shirt with no stock is okay.? But has to white.?

3)From what I can gather black or brown boots is fine.! This is the boots I have... I'm assuming they will be fine.?

4) I can't make sense of this.?!? "Fetlock boots on horses and ponies (brushing boots, fetlock boots) with rigid
or semi-rigid plastic or foam inserts concealed or not concealed underneath the inner lining are not permitted"

But further down it says "The rounded rigid part of the protection must be placed around the inside of the fetlock."

Can I put your average tendon & fetlock boots on him, like these below & does it matter what colour they are.?;

Last one I promise.!

5) Can he wear a sheepskin noseband cover.? I can't find any reference to them in the handbook..

For those of you that are interested this is us jumping at home :D

In BS - pretty much anything goes!

Jacket colour - anything is fine.
Stocks - if you want to. Many just have a stock shirt with no stock. Again any colour goes.
I've not seen your type of boots with the tassle before - but I can't see anyone objecting.
"normal" jumping boots are fine. You are not supposed to have anything under the inner lining that would prick or otherwise hurt the horse if it hits a pole. Thats what that rule is for. Any colour is fine.

Yes - sheepskin noseband is fine.

Have fun!

Brilliant Thankyou.! I don't really need to buy anything new then, which is always good :) The tassels on the boots are just for the zip, I think I can take it off if need be.

Here's a link to the rule book. I know it's pretty massive, but worth reading to familiarise yourself with the rules.

Just to clarify - shirts can be any colour but the collar must be white and if long sleeved, the cuffs white too (although unless your jacket sleeves ride up they wouldn't know!)

If you're intending to do club I would check first to see of any show centres near you actually run club shows as not that many do, particularly in the south.
You may do better to jump "on a ticket" at a full BS show. (This gives you the chance to have a go without having to pay a year's membership - you just don't win any prize money) Lots of show centres give these out for a few £ and some even have free ones to encourage new members. Again - check local centres to see what classes they do - some may run 80cm (or even 70cm) opens or 85cm Amateur classes and may even have clear round jumping beforehand.

Thankyou, Im trying to work my way through it :) I've had a look & there's around 6 centres near me that run club so it should be okay. :) I taking him out to our first Comp in two weeks (just Unaf) fingers crossed it all goes well.!
