The pig farm that my OH worked on has shut down and the boss has offered us the opportunity to turn it in to a livery yard

The ground needs sorting out but the boss has done a deal with the farmer next door so he's going to do it for us

We'll have between 10 and 14 acres, probably just 10 to start off with.
The shop/cafe will be turned back to stables as that's what the shop/cafe was originally.
Theres direct access on to tramways so theres no need to go on the road!
I'm so excited, just starting to sort out price listings ect, we're also going to have an arena put in!
I know it won't be a quick process but while the ground is getting sorted my OH will crack on with the stables.

Here's some piccies of the development!

Sorry for the overload, Im so excited about it!
Starting my AI n a couple of weeks too!

Good luck with your new venture!, once you have sorted the grazing out which will take time I guess but in that time you can do all your DIY changes etc to buildings, then you'll have a nice little pad there, ideal livery for lots of ponios!

Dont forget a few ducks/Geese for your pond, they make great guard dogs!

There WAS geese, they started laying in the hedge in the car park and wouldn't let cars in lol!
Unfortunately the fox had them all!

GOOD LUCK - id love to get my teeth stuck into somehing like that

Remember mashed up fields will take time for pasture to really thinken and swarth up - so very very careful grass management initially should get you on the way!!! x

Wow, lucky you, how much did that lot set you back? (No, don't answer that, none of my business) I recognise the place but can't quite locate it

LOL it hasn't set us back a penny!
He rents the land cheap and its a very long tenancy on it, if thats the word.
It £400 a YEAR for the stables and 4.5 acres!
Its down at Bissoe, right above the Devoran/Portreath tramways!

Hi Train Robber, we are very lucky we have the knowledgeable farmer next door sorting it for us, I wont start off with many, the other field we will have is nearly 5 acres and the weaners weren't on it for long so it should be OK soon.
OH getting a job with that farmer so if I need anything I can just shout and he'll hear me lol!

That's about 10 minutes down the road from me

I'm in Carnon Downs (I'm right in thinking it was Cornish Pig Company? That's the only pig farm that I can think of round here that's had to close
wink.gif
) Have fun

Aw Sophie, the very best of luck to you! How exciting it all will be getting the place back up and together
smile.gif
. There's a fair amount of work needing doing there, but if you put your back into it, it should all come together fairly quickly. The fields will take a bit of time to come back but you have time

.
