Will wearing disposable thin rubber gloves eliminate me zapping my poor horse ?
ie been wetting my hands before I touch him but they dry so quickly !

Would natural fibre grooming brushes help too ? It’s got to the stage where I can’t touch him without him turning away or lifting his head up & out of the way. It’s so upsetting !

Apparently not as too thin ...
Any other ideas? I’m considering an antic static bracelet but a bit sceptic about those too !

If it’s whilst removing a rug, you’ve got to ‘ground‘ the horse first. So undo the buckles, then place a hand on the horse and then remove the rug (whilst still touching the horse).

I do this wearing a particular t shirt if I'm grooming/doing something which involves a lot of torso movement - I now stick to natural fibres for myself, was already using the Haas brushes for pony!

I get static from removing some types of rugs - I "ground" the way AmyMay suggests to minimise it. Leather footwear helps, natural materials for your clothing rather than nylon / polyester. Natural fibre brushes if it is happeneing whilst grooming.

I get electric shocks from everything - even my sink!! Its really sore :( I used to shock my poor dog, but thankfully not the horse! Dont know why!

I ground myself regularly & it helps - I take off my shoes & socks and walk around on the bare grass for a minute! I read it somewhere but it works for me! I do it about once a week!!!

I’ve bought an earthling/ grounding sheet to help with sleep/ inflammation etc so maybe that will help in time too
