Staying clean tips for going to the farm before work?!

I've recently started going up to the farm to turn my horse out every morning before work, I love getting to see him twice a day, but i'm really worried about smelling 'horsey' and looking like a scruff at work! I work in marketing and so looking decent is important.

Due to traffic/diesel costs I can't go to the farm then go home and shower, I have to go to the farm on my way to work. So I have been getting ready for work as normal, then putting old clothes on top of my work clothes and gloves on, sorting out jango, then taking the old clothes off in the car before driving in. I just don't feel clean though!

Any tips on how you stay clean gratefully appreciated :)
 
I get changed at farm, keep a pack of wet wipes in the car and wash my hands as soon as I get into work. No one has complained yet!
 
Overalls tucked into wellies! I have a pair of army issue heavy duty fabric overalls. They are brilliant as you can zip and button it right up to the top and close velcro over the wrists. If your yard has a loo nip in after u finish with horse, remove overalls, wash hands (possibly face if your horse likes to wipe his nose on your face like mine does!) brush hair, into car and away.
 
This thread made me laugh, I used to do the yard and then go onto work, but I was able to change at the yard as I have a little caravan in the corner.

I work in government and one morning during a meeting my secretary whispered to me - 'you have hay in your hair and what looks like cow shite up your arm which is visable under your suit sleeve'

I guess the change had been a bit hasty that morning !!
 
Overtrousers for your legs. Wash your horse jackets regularly if wearing them over office clothes. And straight to the bathroom with you when you get there! :)

LOL! :p

I have a pair of Dickies overalls (£12 as direct from supplier - get in!) and wet wipes, body spray, hair brush, make-up and gel hand wash in the car.

I mustn't smell of horse because I work with teenagers who would not hold back from commenting if I did! I was extremely bedraggled when I got in this morning though after the torrential rain... :rolleyes:
 
if i have yard before work. all i have to do is chuck the feed under the door and wait 5 mins while she eats and then turn her out. this invoves be using a fingertip to hold the lead rope. she turns her self round in the field so i can undo her. then i pop the wellies of and put smart shoes on spray perfume so i dont smell horsey and then of to work and do all the mucking jobs at the end of the day.
 
Haha, i thought i got away with this for years until someone gave me a lift for company training, and once the heating had been blastiong away on my legs for about ten minutes, he commented on the slight 'pissy' smell.

I was mortified!!! Turns out the shoes were a dead giveaway!!!

Love it !! I changed in haste but always made sure my skirt was not tucked in my tights !!
 
I leave the yard in my riding gear, complete with sweaty ridong hat hair, get on a commuter train, walk through the City, go to my office and then nip to the disabled loo to change, wash my hands and face and brush my hair. I am meant to be a lawyer :o
 
Don't muck out straw beds as your skin and hair will imbibe the pong!

Most other beds are OK as long as you cover your head and all your hair with a clean hat and scrub your hands afterwards.

I just wear over trousers, a coat, gloves and wellies and have been going on to an office job for years straight from the stables.

Sometimes I can smell that 'wee lingering on rugs' smell on my hands, however much I scrub them when I get to work!

No one has ever commented though, so either they can't smell me, or they're too polite!
 
Make sure everything is ready at night and all you have to do is to skip out. Better still get someone else to do it for you. Use latex gloves if necessary.
I used to ride out every morning but changed in the stable, then drove to work with windows wide open. A good spray of Impulse then in to the office. Keep office at a low temperature.
Baby wipes help too.
 
Dry shampoo- for if you have to muck aout and you know how the smell sticks to your hair. Dont wear the clothes over yours as you will get sweaty, change into clean clothes in car or even in stable, never ever wear your shoes, even if its to turn out into dry field you WILL smell pissy!!!
