Im just wondering how many HHO'ers have stayed in touch with new owners when you've sold your horse? I loved my horse but we just werent suited and Id like to stay in touch with the new owners. Okay I dont want to be in their pockets but just an update now and again would be great.

I tried to but the new owner sold him to a ODE home despite me telling her due to injury as a 4 year old he could do fast hard work. Funny enough she wouldn't pass my number on to the new owner.

We send our ponies' old owner updates and they came to visit the first one and left the second one on a trial to see if they get along. I think they were fond of the first pony and like the updates and liked us enough to let us have the second one for a bit before committing to a purchase. I'm sure the new owners of your horse won't mind you staying in touch. Its reassuring actually, that you genuinely care.

We have only ever sold one horse and are in regular contact with the new owner. In fact we have become good friends and go out hacking, to shows and also meet up socially outside of horses as well.

I think if it's a genuine pony you've had for a while and loved, then I think it's natural to want to keep in touch and get updates and the odd picture. Funnily enough, when the pony you've just bought for your 12 year-old daughter turns out to be a pain in the a**e and totally unsuitable, the heartbroken previous owner, who definitely wants to keep in touch and come and see him, never once calls to find out how you are getting on with him, despite only living in the next county. I wonder why!

The only horse I have sold I sold nearly five years ago and am still in touch with his owner, we used to email every so often, now with the invention of facebook we are always chatting and it is lovely to see all her photos and updates on how he is doing. I know it doesn't always work like this so I am very thankfull and gratefull that I have such a good relationship with his new owner. :)

I've just sold one of mine and I hope to keep in touch by finding out how they are doing now and again and maybe visiting occasionally if they don't mind.

I bought my new mare on the 1st of May this year and i have regularly been in contact with her previous owner by email. she emails me once in a while to see how we are getting on and to tell me about her youngster and i email her with little updates etc on what we have been up to and our progress, i really like the contact and its nice to think she wants to know how she is doing im only too happy to oblige with piccys!!!

I stay in touch with my old horse's new owner, have been to see him once or twice and one of my friends has even had a lesson on him as his new owner runs a riding school and although he is her horse he does get used occasionally when they need a bigger horse. I was very very honest when I sold him so as far as I see it there's no need not to stay in touch :)

I keep in touch with the people I bought my horse from last year. I used to email updates and pictures every couple of months while I was bringing her on and now I see them out and about on the showing circuit so we are in touch pretty regularly.

I never heard anything from anyone who bought ponies from us when we outgrew them though :(

Yes, mainly via facebook now, but when she was settling in and we were dealing with "firsts" there were phonecalls and texts too.

Oh yes, only this morning we've been chatting about his saddle and sizes etc - I think its lovely to keep in touch if you can. I was really sad when I lost the contact details of the person who bought Murphy from me :(

I have given/sold a few horses and have always stayed in cintact with new owner. I like to know they are ok and getting on well. One I gave away 4yrs ago and still keep in contact with the lovely lady that had her.

i have just got back in touch with a lady i sold my pony to 3 years ago !! she was very happy to hear from me and has sent me lots of pictures :) soo pleased i contacted her ! x
