Steady him up! *vid*

Agree with grid work, it'll get him thinking more and learning were to put his feet etc... He'll have to slow to take the fences.

Let him travel forward and keep a nice flowing pace. Just try not to get in a battle with him if he gets strong or too quick.

Lots of transitions, turn circles before fences so he doesn't automatically think 'we are jumping', and stopping after he's jumped to teach him not to rush off.

He's lovely by the way :) just regular schooling to help bring up his confidence will help.

Even doing 2 minutes jumping ending on a good, positive note.

Enjoy :)

I don't jump, but reading the replies on here, it seems to me the advice is clear, do the groundwork and the rest comes, if you can't trust your horse, he won't trust you. I have a happy hacker, trotter x who trips over his own feet, because he rushes through life, schooling over poles, so he has to think about his feet, has worked wonders, go back to basics

Just to add to all the advice - to me it seems like just as you take off you give him a big kick (most noticeable at the blue and pink planks). I would see what happens if you either didn't kick either at all or at least so hard as I think that unsettles him, especially as you don't keep your leg on on the flat. Although I appreciate why it may be a habit if he has/has had a few dirty stops.
