Steamed hay question

How long would you keep it, once steamed, before feeding it?

The barrel is outside. I steam a barrel for him, but he needs another later. Could I steam it and feed it about 4 hours later? (Late evening).

At the moment I am using the two kettles poured over method, but I'm looking for a wallpaper steamer and large tank, so I can then set it on a timer.

From what I remember I was advised to feed that day (ie within 24hrs) I steam early morning and use it through the day to the evening feeds if I've done enough to last. It's lovely when it's warn though
Haygain website says horses prefer still warm but can be used for 24 hours

We used to steam our hay and we pre steamed the night before and fed the next day. Was always fine
