steaming hay

someone on here suggested steaming hay instead of soaking it. i'm doing my back in soaking hay, so am open to suggestions. how long does it need steaming for?
also, i think a wallpaper steamer with the hose going into a dustbin was mentioned... does the hose go in at the top or the bottom? the bottom because the hot air will rise, or doesn't it work like that with steam? thankyou!

Put hay in dustbin, pour in kettle of boiling water, replace lid and leave for 10 mins.

Alternatively, put hay in old shavings bag, pour on boiling water and fold top over to seal.

I use old feed bags

Can then fill up a week's worth at a time too!

I steam hay using the dustbin method, it's soooo much easier than soaking it and the horses seem to prefer it

B&Q have a big light green plastic water butt that is perfect (even has an optional tap at the bottom) for just £10. You can easily fit in two big haynets...saves me a lot of time doing two at once

Steamer goes in at the top of the dustbin. It really does work & the horses love it. Isnt there supposed to be a problem with soaking hay! Something to do with emptying the water which contains harmful spores back onto the land? Dont know where I remember this from. Anyone else know?
