Early mornings in Prospect Park are incredibe; today I would estimate between 400 and 500 dogs turned out on the lawns to play.

Sadly, Stella got off to a bad start and tried to eat another female Boston Terrier...

Stella is a wee legend. Love her! 400-500 dogs?! Wow!

It's amazing. There are always a few cross barks, so to speak, but all the dogs get along harmoniously. Even Stella's altercation was just a load of Tasmanian Devil noise, which I soon sorted out with a spray from the Evian bottle

Repeatedly, she seeks our larger dogs to play with and befriend, although she loves Jack Russells as well.

That park looks like great fun. What on earth is a Catahoula Leopard Dog? It's amazing looking. Is it really a breed?

[/ QUOTE ]

It's not recognised by the AKC but it's been around forever.
Here's some info...

It's bizarre but since living in a big city, of all places, I reckon I've encountered every breed of dog and mix you can possibly have

You very rarely see Staffies over here--plenty of Am Staffs, though.

That Dane was a stunner. I saw another Dane who was wearing a t-shirt for some reason...

And lots of Mastiffs/Dogue De Bordeauxs/Cane Corsos. She was a bit shy about this one at first, but they soon started playing

Yep, I'd have been a bit 'shy' about playing with that too! Looks like it would have Stella as an appetiser

Thanks, that was really interesting and they are the most odd looking things, kinda ugly/pretty in a bull terrier way!

she is very brave little thing isnt she!, i used to see loads of Am Staffs in Denmark but barely ever over here, they are lovely too. - the Dane in the tee shirt is oviously a little "body shy"

She is completely fearless, which isn't always a good thing. She has no qualms about putting dogs ten times her size in their place. An alpha dog through and through

Lovely, how much controll of the dogs do most people have?

Really great. Obviously, there's always one that goes a bit tone deaf when the owner calls it away to leave the park

but I've never had any problems in getting my dog to come to me, and nor have I ever seen any full-on fights (the odd cross word and jockeying for position, yes, but never a fight).
