It was another weekend at the shore for Ms. Stella. First, we tried out a new beach, and as beautiful as it was, and as much as there were ample opportunities for posing, the rocky surface left her looking a bit doddery...

And so, we headed back to her favourite stomping ground. There were plenty of other playful dogs about, apart from the one sniffing her in the picture which was very growly and put me on edge a bit

The pebbled beaches in one town had no restrictions, but the large sandy beach in Montauk doesn't allow dogs between 10am-6pm May-September, which, to be honest, suits us fine, as it was way too hot in the daytime yesterday (94 degrees, getting up to a gross 98 today).

She is such a little poser isn't she??

She must know how gorgeous she is im sure...

Fab pics Prose as always!!

Can you post Stella to me? Pretty please? Lovely beaches you have though. Do you have to travel far to get to them?

Well, there are huge beaches in NYC, believe it or not (called the Rockaways, but dogs aren't allowed on during the summer). We either drive 90 minutes to the North Fork of Long Island and stay the weekend, or we drive an hour to relatives in Connecticut, where the beaches are almost exclusively ruled by yellow Labs. I love the beach at Montauk because it reminds me of Ainsdale/Formby, which was my local stomping ground as a nipper.

And Stella will gladly befriend anyone who has a friendly dog/a good throwing arm/a lifetime supply of beef tendon. Her loyalty isn't exactly unwavering when food is involved

It is hard to believe as I just base NYC on what I see in films

She went to a lovely restaurant with us on Saturday night, which had outdoor seating. Being the gourmand she is, she got to sample some of the local goat cheese on crusty bread

In NYC, she's always mistaken for a darn French Bulldog, but outside of the city, everyone recognises (and loves) a Boston Terrier. She hammed it up for the crowds by crawling along on her belly and flipping over for a belly rub.
