Stella's follow-up went according to plan. As per the biopsy, the opthamologist confirmed that the removed eye was normal (as is the intact one). There was no evidence of cancers, tumours etc. but also no evidence of uveitis (triggered by Lyme) or infectious disases.
The doctor reckons--as innocuous as this may sound--a small piece of debris got lodged in her eye, and created a terrific build up of pressure. Stella does have a naturally high production of fluid (known around these parts as "gunky", which the doctor says is common in Boston Terriers) so that did not help.
Going forward, the doctor gave an enthusiastic thumbs-up for Doggles at the beach, woods, park etc. I'm also going to ask about daily saline drops, too, just to make sure there's no nightmarish repeat.
As for the prosthesis, the doctor thought Stella's op was two weeks ago. She was very impressed by the healing rate of the eye. It'll be one more week of the e-collar/painkillers, and normal activities can resume after that.
All in all, I think we've done a rather triumphant 180.
PS Stella was seated next to a champion Weimeraner in the waiting room. Let's just say she did not mind when his man bits dropped into the plastic visor to say hi
