After grabbing her stuffed pheasant yesterday, she went for a ten-minute plod today, and even grabbed her pink BITCH bone to play fetch. After five retrievals, she went back to her bed, but what a fantastic sign

I'm so pleased how well it has turned out.

Did you get the results of the other eye? (sorry if I missed any updates

Tuesday, hopefully. That's when we've got a follow-up at the hospital.

Me being me, I am bracing myself for the worst. Honestly, having one eye has made not a blind (

) bit of difference to her, and I'm starting to think zero vision wouldn't be an insurmountable obstacle. All in due course, but this week has proven to me that she has the spirit of twenty dogs.

She has certainly bounced back!

I have a my fingers crossed (Tina, Cindy and Beastie have their paws crossed

) that everything turns out well with ehr other eye.

Yeah - Stella photos. She looks amazing and it's a great sign that she wants to play! I hope her recovery continues with great success. Slobbery kisses from Tillyxxx

Bless her

Good to see her looking so perky, fingers crossed for the results of the other eye.

Please read my post in your other thread. Our dog lost both eyes in quick succession and was fine; better even than before as she was out of pain. So glad Stella is making such a good recovery, but I never doubted she would. You have surprisingly hairy legs!

Sooty, was it glaucoma or cataracts or an injury?

We just got some news from the hospital--Stella's glaucoma is secondary! The doctor wants to keep a close watch on the remaining eye, but it's definitely not genetic, and definitely not caused by a tumour. It could have been caused by the knock to her head, Lyme Disease (which clears up with antibiotics) or an infection. I am so flipping relieved. Hopefully whatever caused the first eye to be lost isn't latent and has gone altogether.

We also have the follow-up appointment on Tuesday.

Initally Wurzel suffered from luxation of the lens, due to the way terriers shake and worry their prey. This in turn led to glaucoma, and her eyes were such a mess that not only could she not see but the pain was making her really miserable. She was a new dog afterwards, and was pts at the age of 16, about eight years after her op. She didn't have prosthetics, but she had 'eyebrows' which disguised her scars. I'll dig out a photo tomorrow, when I'm on the main computer.
