To cut a long story short, my husband's father has a pug. The pug, Prince, is four-years-old and my FIL and his wife last week said that they no longer want the dog

My husband and I have always been big Prince fans. He currently lives with a cat, loves other dogs, and is sweet and gentle with children. The decision was such an easy one to make, that we put dibs on him there and then

So, he is flying up from Florida at the end of January for the handover, after which he will be put on a strict diet (he's currently 25lbs) and become Stella's whipping boy for all eternity.

I feel a major shopping spree coming on this weekend

I thought you were getting a Stanley ? Great that this little dog has a new place to call home, what sort of people turf out a small dog like that

Correct. We almost got one of the dachshund pups at our local shelter, with the intention of calling him Stanley, but got a bit nervous when the foster--a long-time dachshund owner--started to reel off the health issues. Not that pugs are the most athletic of breeds, but we're hoping that Stella will soon turn the chubby fella into a lean, mean hiking machine.

And we're thinking of keeping the name, Prince. Photos shall be forthcoming

That's fantastic news!! I love Pugs, im sure Stella and Prince are going to have a whale of a time. Can't wait to see pics of the new couple!!

But they look soo cute, some jumpers might be nice one with a raindeer on perhaps???!

Am laying bets on how long the accessories would last on the thugs!! Pet shop man sold me an "TOUGH" toy, took it back for the promised refund the next day he couldn't beleive it!!

Everyone looks at me funny at dog training, their retrieve toys are a plastic bottle, at least I have a good supply of them!

Sorry Prose I guess doggie fashion accessories are only really for certain breeds! I am sure Stella will be very impressed with her new toy, a pug for Christmas, how's she doing on raw btw, are you going to put "fatso" on it too when you get him, thats heavy for one so small!!!
