My husband and I are sat at home waiting for the results of an MRI/spinal tap on our beloved Stella. Yesterday was nothing short of hellish. It started with a fairly innocuous trip to the dog park, though when we got home Stella began staring at the ceiling ("stargazing", the nurse called it), moving along the corridor in our flat and stopping at the bathroom. It lasted a few minutes, but it seemed very odd. So I took her straight to the veterinary hospital. Within an hour I'd spoken to the ER doctor and a neurologist, both of whom suspected a mild psychomotor seizure. She did not bang her head, and far as I know she ate nothing off the ground. Being that Stella is 7.5, and in the words of the doctor "too old to develop inherited seizures", we are looking at other causes, none of them good (brain tumour :( :( ; vestibular disease; liver shunt). We should have the results of the MRI by noon today; please keep our special girl in your thoughts.

Oh no, keeping fingers and paws crossed for Stella. Really hope it isn't as bad as you fear, I have known of a few dogs with vestibular syndrome, they only had occasional episodes and were okay the rest of the time.

I hadn't heard of it, but read as much as I could yesterday on seizures, vestibular etc. The doctors kept rattling on about a tumour. I can hardly see straight :( :(

Oh no that's terrible news! Poor Stella! Fingers crossed it's something simple and easy to deal with - hope you get to hear back from the vets soon, the waiting bit is so horrible.

As SU has said fingers, paws and hooves crossed for the lovely Stella. She is always such a happy little soul she really doesn't deserve any bad stuff.

you must be so worried about her. Rmember, it's not terrible news because you don't know yet. Please try not to think the worst (not easy I know). Hopefully it will be something treatable.
everything crossed for her. xxx

Like everyone the title of this made my heart sink, stella is such a special girly, having this much impact on so many people!
Everything humanly possible to cross is crossed, I'm getting some funny looks at the bus stop I can tell you! Really hoping and praying for a positive result.

You're so sweet, H&H peeps :)

Great news on the tumour front--there isn't one! Her bloods are normal, too. We're not out of the woods yet, as the doctors are currently performing a spinal tap, the results of which we'll have tomorrow. I'm heading to the hospital in a few hours with Prince to pick her up. He really missed playing with her at the dog park this am.

The doctors suggest a. a mild stroke b. a mild seizure c. a mild seizure relating to exposure or ingestion of toxins d. she saw a ghost ;) e. nothing at all. Her left eye is perfectly normal, and her bionic eye is not causing her issues, either, so it's good to rule those things out.

I'm sure the vibes on here helped a million. She was straight piss and vinegar last night, barking at the big dogs from her cage and playing fetch with one of the nurses.
