So rather than PM people who have been asking about how Blossy is getting on i thought i might aswell write it out once as opposed to lots of times!
Last friday she had her homone injection to bring her into season. Unfortunately for me it turned her into crazy mare
Shes never normally bad when shes in season, but she was after her injection!! She got turned out on Sunday and spent the whole day running around her field screaming at the geldings
So i had to keep her stabled until her visit to the vets last night as the ground is so hard and she just got herself really stressed out. In her stable she was a different horse and back to normal Blossy which was lucky!
Last night i rode her down to the vets for her scan. Unfortunately its sort of good news and sort of not - shes got two very large folicles (good news) but they are very close together (bad news) which means shes at high risk of twins
However the vet has assured me that should she have twins she is in very capable hands and he has done 14 successful twin removals already this year and the mares are all still in foal with one. So that made me feel a bit better.
Bloss had another injection last night (not quite sure what for, i couldnt hear what he was saying as Bloss had started neighing loudly at a gelding in the vets yard
) So shes now at the vets (stayed last night and will stay over tonight). Today she will be closely monitored and scanned probably once in the morning and once this afternoon. He thinks he will AI her tomoro morning. Then i will ride her home tomoro evening.
The ride home could be interesting - considering she wont have been out in her field since sunday afternoon (4days) and wont have had any exercise since last night, as they are obviously stabled 24/7 at the vets
My vet told me she then needs to think 'pink fluffy thoughts' for the next two weeks after shes been 'done'
Then she will go back to be scanned again at 14 days, so around two weeks on friday.
So its fingers crossed all goes well tomoro morning, and for two weeks time aswell
