Steroid Injections

Systemic steroid injection will lead to urine dilution and fluid loss, which will be compensated for by increased thirst. So yes.
Localised steroid injection e.g. joint injection would be unlikely to have much effect.

This is interesting. My lad was given a corticosteroid injection in his SI joint this morning. Picked him up at 12 (saw him have a drink before we left the vets). Got back to the stable at about 1, popped out for 15 minutes, came back and he'd drunk a fair bit of his water. Put it down to travelling but when I went back down just now he'd drunk a lot more than usual. I've filled his water right to the top tonight so will be interesting to see how much he drinks overnight (normally less than half a bucket in winter).

It was injection into joint so wouldnt have thought it would be generally circulating in the body but definitely a lot more water being drunk, and also unfortunately being evacuated out the other end !

Our WB had steroid and hylorunic injections in his coffin joint on 16 Dec,followed by a course of Adequan which he is still having.I have noticed his urinary output is greater, and he is drinking more. Not sure if it's the joint injections, the Adequan,or both.He is normally quite dry in the stable, but now i'm having to replace the straw nearly every day.
