Does anyone have any experience of steroid injections in dogs?
Ellie (GSD x Rottie) has elbow dysplasia and arthritis. Our vet has mentioned the option of steroid injections into the joints to help make her more comfortable. I've had one myself in my ankle and don't think it really made much difference. If it will help I'm more than happy to go for it, but am really quite unsure.
She's already on Librela, paracetemol and gabapentin and can't tolerate NSAIDs, so I don't think we have many other options.

As with most of these treatments, be aware that the masking/suppressing of pain/symptoms means that the dog can potentially over-do things and cause more long-term damage, my maxim would be meds plus appropriate management, not meds = letting the dog do whatever it did ten years ago.

Thank you. This is very much the route we're going down, trying to balance the management and the meds. She's only 8 and would definitely over do things given the opportunity. It's so hard to find the right balance though :(

It might be worth asking your vet about Amantadine, it can be given with paracetamol.

You could also ask your vet about subcutaneous injection of low dose ketamine for analgesia.

ETA. I can send a pm with info on both if you wish.
