Steroids, what to use alongside them to help the horse cope?

As title, my horse has been diagnosed with IMHA and the vet will start steroids in 2 weeks (or before if he deteriorates). In the meantime he has received an injection of vitamin B12 and is on iron supplement to help with the aneamia.
What supplement/herbs etc could I give him to help him cope with the steroids? The therapy would be of around 3 months so any advice taken.

Mine is on 100 steroid tablets a day and has been since early March we prob have another 2 months to go before we start weaning him off.

My vet recommended milk thistle to help his liver but he is also on spearmint for gassy colic and pink powder.
