Had scary night last night with serious ill horse and just stressed the importance of knowing your own horse/s normal breathing/pulse and temp as well as behaviours. Probably like most folks I have only done these things when things not right
Was struggling to get an accurate pulse but then tried using a stethascope behind the elbow and so much easier! I would suggest anyone that struggles being able to take an accurate pulse, get one for their first aid kit.
Horse in question is doing a lot better but it was quite scary last night as he didn;t look that bad just a bit dull but his TPR showed a completely difference picture and showed we needed the vet out immediately. Don't think I would have had my horse today if I had waited to see how he was in the morning.
