I have quite specific needs, as i have an assortment of lower back. pelvis and hip injuries so sticky bum breeches, combined with a seat saver, mean that I can remain quite stable in the saddle without putting myself in pain. They would be a little restrictive if I was jumping though. i can still move my weight in the saddle when needed.
i like the full seat sticky type seats and i find they do help. but i hate the full seat swade(sp) or leather type seats,i bought some caldene ones and i cant even get in the saddle they are so stiffand they seem to slip down all the time.
!!! The nearest I get to sticky bums now is Caldene Belgrade (think thats what they are called).
I used to wear a lot of 'leather' seated breeches when I competed at dressage (prob more 'fashion' conscious then
) but now I prefer normal cotton ones.
I like to be able to move my seat/weight without feeling like I've got to peel my a*se out of the saddle
! Particularly hate jumping in them....and as for XC...imagine falling off in the water and having to contiue with chamoix leather trousers on
!!!!
Also find they get a bit 'sweaty' when its hot
I wear RTS bentex full seat breeches, wouldn't wear anything else! I ride a lot of young horses, do a lot of re-schooling of "problem" horses, find these things a life saver tbh. The only problem is I occasionally stick to the seat in the lorry, and have often launched myself out of the door to find I have left my bum behind

My dressage horses are VERY big moving, especially my 17 hand WB chap (to the point where my event rider friend who has a good seat actually bounced off him when I lunged her without stirrups on him once!
) and without full seated breeches it does become a real effort to sit into him.
I always buy full seated breeches and end up wearing 2 pairs of non seated breeches instead, to the point i have 8 brand new pairs of cavallo , pikeur and rts bentex sitting in my cupboard!!!
