Due to our ongoing saddle woes, I have taken to riding my little mare Yas bareback, we've been hacking and schooling and even doing the odd little jump...
I'm seeing a vast improvement in her attitude, she goes off the leg much better, and is also taking more of a contact instead of running around with her head in the air. I am also seeing an improvement in the atrophy she has behind the withers - I didn't expect to since she is 22!
Anyway tonight I happened to be wearing sticky bum jodhs - I never wear them normally cos these particular ones are sooo unflattering and I never saw the benefit - but Yas put in a particularly big buck when we were trotting tonight (she's feeling a bit fresh!) and I hardly moved!!! Now I totally get it!
Then I got off cos I felt guilty that i'd maybe stuck to her too much and pulled her coat which might have made her buck...sigh!
Anyway a 16" GFS Fieldhouse Pro working hunter saddle in wide is winging its way over to us as we speak, so fingers crossed it fits...
