Sticky bum

I get stuck on the sofa! ...personally though I’m not keen on sticky bum breeches/jods, I find the waistband slips down, and too sticky for a saddle! I would rather have an ordinary pair of breeches..won’t be buying another pair 😳...

I like suede seats too as a good happy medium, but have recently got some Pikeur athleisure leggings and they have stuff printed on them that aids grip without gluing you to the saddle. more comfy than a suede seat without the OTT effect of silicone.

I find that some of the "sticky bum" tights and breeches are too sticky and feel restrictive but i do love the Ariat Tri Factor full seat silicone they are super comfortable in and out the saddle plus they look really smart too.

I've got a suede-seat saddle so don't need additional sticky-bum!

The problem with sticky-bum jods is that if you are riding in different saddles, there will be more of a "sticky-bum" effect on some rather than others.

I remember going to view a horse once and the saddle provided was like sitting on a skating rink! It was awful, you just had no grip up there at all and riding a strange horse with "normal" jods on just wasn't a great experience!! I really could have done with sticky-bum's on that occasion!

haha! lucky you. I remember those days *sighs wistfully*

I work from home so breeches go on in the morning to do morning stables and I wear them all day, quality and comfort is worth paying for...but I do only buy from the sale rail :p

I don't like silicone sticky bum breeches and yet the local saddlery is awash with them, particularly with glitzy, blingy bits on them. Great for a 12 year old, not so much for anyone older.
Suede works ok, not slippery but allows some movement.
Earlier this year I went into the huge branch of Hope Valley Saddlery which is based at Somerford. I asked to be shown where to find non sticky bum/knee breeches and/or jodhs - they didn’t have any!

I found some nice cheap cotton/Lycra jodhs on eBay instead, they do the job and don’t stick me to the saddle, or to the sofa :D.

Lol, I was thinking of Hope Valley when I wrote that.

I've bought two pairs of jods with sticky patches on the knee. Unfortunately, I'm so short that the sticky patches end up on my calves, nicely covered by boots, so I've never got to find out if they're actually worth having.

I never got on with the suede seats, found them too restrictive as I like lots of stretch on the bottom.

I find some of the silicone ones give me stretch and just the right level of grip. I have some Horze ones with a pimple design that works quite well and they are breeches not tights , have a proper waist band. I also have a lovely pair of Cavallo Cavagrip ones (bought in a sale at a 1/3 of their usual price) which I keep for shows.

Don't like the ones that have wider bits of sticky on them like zig zags, those I get stuck every time I sit down in rising trot.

I find the ones that are more of the matt silicone rather than the shiny stuff, less stick and more grip if that makes sense. Have a pair of Equetech Tights that are like that and the Pikeur ones for shows that are grippy rather than sticky.

Oh god been there done that!

First few times I wore my silicone seat riding tights I was lulled into a false sense of security by the fabric seats of the little car, then I wore them for a clinic and had to drive the pick up which has leather seats. Tried to hop out and my arse remained stuck to the seat which caused a very undignified nose dive 😳

I do like them, just have to be extra careful getting out of the truck.

I like sticky ones once the initial over stickiness has worn off. I am struggling to find ones though that have a zippered pocket for keys and don't have branding all over them. I hate feeling like I am a giant ad for some company.
