:(Hi everyone,
my horse is quite tempermental, sometimes he jumps fine, sometimes he spooks and looks at everything, i've done tonnes of schooling, SJ, hunter trials, training camps and he seems to be variable at events. he's on cool calm and collected which does help but some days it's just like he says - 'dont want to do it today'
he's 14 this year (so should know better!!)

quite chilled and laid back, and chilled at events

any ideas? do i give the ODE's a miss? end of last season he really improved but this year so far he's started being sticky again. do people think it's just because it's the beginning of the season?

if he improved last year then i wouldnt worry, i expect with a few outings he will remember what the deal is!
helpful arent i!

id give him time one of my hunters gets sticky if he has a day off hunting ( he goes twice a week) and if we cancel i know for 1st half of day he will be hard work but if he is going and not missing any work u name it he fly's it give him time see how he goes on its still v early in season. have you had him check by a physio just a thought if he is abit reluctant might just be abit sore.

hi
his back should be fine as get it done regularly. he went clear ot ode in sj a month ago but this time was naughty. think i will go out and do some sj then see what he,s like after
