Hi all, I bought a 3yo quarter horse gelding a few months ago who was very underweight and very small for his age (stood at 13.2).
He had a variety of things wrong including rain scald which is now sorted and a bog brush tail but his mane seems unusually 'foal like' its thick but seems to stick up near the top of his neck and is a different texture to the lower half of the mane which is rather nice, his forlock is almost non existant!
He wasn't fed properly as a youngster and only had sparse grass and the odd bit of haylage which he had to fight for against older horses.
I'm pleased to say that he now stands at 14hh and is in really good condition but his mane hasn't improved, I'm sure I could get it to lay flat but I would like to know if the texture is likely to change and if there is anything I can use or feed that will make a difference?
