Sticky up mane getting it to lie flat!

My mare has a flat mane until about 6 inches at the top and then it sticks directly upwards. Anyone got any tips to get it to lie with the rest of the mane? Ive tried pulling, pulling just the underneath etc but i dont want to let it grow too long as she does dressage and gets plaited up very regularly.

Any advice?

Do a running plait right on the crest with the hair damp and leave for a couple of hours so the hair dries. Worked for my lad xx

We use to dampen mane down and wrap hessan sacks round the neck, now I think you could do it with the new neck cover/guards you see advertised in the magazines

My arabs hair does that, tbh, it is a lost cause until it grows. Nothing I do could get that mohawk to lie down. We just ignore it and pretend it isn't happening haha. It does depend on the type of hair though, soft hair will lie with some work, as will bushy hair, but dead straight coarse hair will not.
