Hello, I have a 10 year old welsh D I’ve had since July. I bought as a project, she hadn’t been ridden much the year before I got her. As I started to ride her I’ve noticed she can seem stiff in her hind left leg. I’ve wondered if its from coming back into work and adjusting to it or something else. I’ve tried to get my vet out multiple times but they’ve kept cancelling on me . The more work she was in the better she seemed, however she struggles on right rein more with turns, bending, picking up the right canter lead etc. Her tack all fits fine, has been recently checked. Does anyone have any ideas on what it could be or what can be done to help? Thank you :) ( I would upload videos but I dont think it will let me😂)

Well I had ideally bought her with the plans for showing classes, M&Ms, working hunters etc or just a fun Allrounder. But I am happy to keep things at whatever level she is comfortable with now as her being happy is my biggest priority
Shes very pretty! She will do well 🥰 might just be a small niggle

Was she vetted when you bought her?

Are you certain that the reasons you were given as to why she was out of work for a year were genuine?

No I hadn’t vetted her when I bought her. Yes I spoke to previous owner and the one before that ( who broke her ) and saw her medical records.

Its like BB says, slightly short, and in trot doesn't look like is coming forwards through the landing phase of the stride as much as the off hind. But I am no expert by any means and I am used to seeing far worse for sale on Horse Quest if I'm being honest!

I should show you the video I found of Lari six years ago on Youtube, unfortunately I only uncovered it after I bought him - he looks horrific.

Then I wouldn't worry too much yet, there's hardly anything to see. Hopefully it's a little bit of hock arthritis (common as muck) and can be halted because it's been caught early. Full marks to you for getting it investigated. (Time for a new vet? )

I think so! Only stuck with my current vet as they’re under the same company vets i work for so I get vet bill discount😂 but they are unreliable most the time!
