Hi,

Just after some recommendations really.

As the weathers getting a little cooler, my horse is quite stiff in the morning after being in overnight. His hind legs also fill a little. He walks it off quite quickly but I thought it might be an idea to give him a little help with joint stiffness it at all possible. He has some signs of arthritic changes on x-ray and he's of that sort of age.

I've been hearing good things about Boswellia serrata - anyone have experience of this or is there anything else others would recommend?

In the past I've tried NAF supaflex, EA cortaflex & equistrio flexadin. To be honest, I didn't see much difference with any of those.

TIA :-)

I feed JointFX (get it from the vet). Occasionally I've run out and I really notice the difference when he isn't on it.

I think it has boswellia in, along with glucosamine etc and all of the other natural remedies. Not cheap at £85 a pot though!

i feed boswellia serrata - my horse has kissing spines - she only has 10g a day (can feed 40g for 16hh) - and its just enough to help her. - Its kinder on the stomach than devils claw - its a natural anti inflammatory so depends on whether its inflammation thats causing the stiffness - certainly helps mine - i get it from pegasus health - for arthritis you can also feed turmeric powder (get it in bags from tesco about £2 a bag) and feed 20g a day of that and rosehips - they also good for arthirtis

we've been using boswellia from Pegasus Health (Nature Bute I think it's called) for about a month. It does seem to have helped - we've noticed that Tom (18yo, with side bone and spavin) has been much less stiff the morning after hunting, and has obviously been feeling well in himself from the way he's jumping at the moment! :)

Equine Answers do Premierflex HA which is pretty amazing, turmeric wasn't working suddenly this autumn and so I tried this and she's sounder than she's ever been !
