i have a 10 year old Belgian Shepherd bitch. she seems to be suffering from stiffness in her back legs more and more often, especially after long walks. i was wondering if anyone can recommend any supplements which will help her. would something like glucosamine help? the vet says the problem is age related, perhaps a touch of arthritis, so not too much to worry about, but i would like to help loosen her up if i can.

Seraquin-I get mine from Hyperdrug. It contains glucosamine, chondroitin and turmeric. I've had rave reviews about turmeric-I reckon about a teaspoon every two to three days. A friend currently has her two horses on it.

Green lipped mussel extract-I get mine from Simplysupplements, currently buy one get one free-good deal as it is not cheap.

I've heard stunning things about Mobile bones from Pooch and Mutt. People on a dog forum I use are raving about them.

From all my research on glucosamine i can give you a few tips if you decide to go with it.

It is not digested well at all in pill or capsule form. Liquid form is what you need for dogs.

The liquid need to be at least 70% pure liquid glucoamine if mixed with Chondroitin. If not mixed it needs to be at least 98% pure liquid glucosamine to be effective.

I would feed an omega 3 supplement along side it and probably some Yukka powder to help with cartilage rebuilding and to reduce inflammation.
