stiffness?!

On behalf of my friend her horse came in last night stiff in his back end and wasent to happy to put weight on his back leg,when u made him unrest he hobbled..he use to do this little hobble thing about 2 years ago but hasent done it snice the vet said it was because of a nerve..
Anyway this morning and tonight he is fine like nothing was ever wrong??!
He has had a few issues in his time but been sound n grand for over a yr plus!!
she thinks the stiffness last night looked like it was from his hips or stifle area?!!

It sounds similar to what my horse had two years ago, which the vet suggested was a mild form of grass tetany - caused by grass and the imbalance of minerals. See link below.

I had never heard of it before but it is all so interesting and now I ensure he and the others have ad lib access to mineral and salt licks.
