I've posted about my mare before with her slipping stifle - http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/foru...-Slipping-Stifles-what-is-there-to-know/page2

She felt tons better last Friday after physio. Then was reshod on the Friday afternoon. Since Sat morning she has been stumbling on the off fore as well!! Part of me is thinking that it is to do with her foot balance. Vet did suggest we tried raising her heels on her hind feet next shoeing cycle if the stifle was still an issue. It does not feel like the same kind of stumble that my old horse did who had caudal heel pain and very long toes and low heels. The stumble feels as though it is coming from the shoulder area.

The only things that I can think that have changed in her routine are coming in at night as the fields are now too wet for her to be out 24 7. Could that have had a major effect on the stifle issue? And that we have put the mare on an ulcer supplement which has resulted in her being a lot nicer to be around and not girthy anymore and has meant she is a lot quieter to ride which is great. She is happy to be tacked up, is quieter in the stable and far more relaxed. That is a positive though!! She is hacked out five days a week for about an hour anything from 4 miles to 9 miles and hunts once a week with a day off afterwards.

Has anyone else experienced stumbling in front which is connected with slipping stifles? I am convinced there is something else going on or that the stifle issue is more serious than the vet says it is or its something like an SI injury. However she trots up sound after flexions. She feels sound to trot on the road on both diagonals. She is dragging her toes far less than she was over the summer. The only thing I can really pick up on is she doesn't seem to be as strong in her hindquarters trotting up hill as she has in the past but then she is being so much calmer and trotting along quietly as opposed to trotting along with her head in the air and tail held high snorting (she is an Anglo Arab x ISH so quite feisty at times).

I am worried about her stumbling on her off fore now as this is a new thing and she seems to be doing it more than her near fore which is the one she has always stumbled on.

Any thoughts from anyone? Sorry so long!! I will take photos of her feet this evening when I get home from work and post later on.

Given that she was freshly shod on the Friday and started stumbling the next day, it could well be incorrect hoof balance. I've had this problem with a past horse and it was only when we X-rayed his feet, the imbalance was glaringly obvious. New farrier employed and never looked back!
Can you tell us what ulcer treatment you are trialling please?
