After many weeks of lameness investigations my horse was finally diagnosed with medial femorotibial synovitis in his stifle. This is basically an inflammation/infection of the synovial fluid around his joint. He was injected with a very strong combination of drugs and I have had 2 long weeks of resting him with the vet booked to come and reassess on Monday. There is a 50/50 chance that the drugs will do the job and clear the inflammation, otherwise he will have to have keyhole surgery to clear out the joint.

Has anyone had any experience of this condition? I am trying to think positively but I am so worried about him. He also has arthritis in his back, but I think I will start another thread about that. Thanks in advance for any responses. My friend recommended this forum to me and said it was a really positive and helpful place.
