Still having catching drama - now in a pen

If you reach the end of the line with him, let me know. I will take him. I've done lots of work with feral youngsters before and dealt with very similar sort of situations, just in 12 acres with no facilities which is always fun! I'm not looking for another one, and I dont think it will get to that stage, but if it does, the offer is always there if you need it.

In the mean time, stay calm, wait until you have the behaviourist on hand and see where you are after that. I would 100% get his eyes checked as well, and be asking some probing questions of the YO and groom, as that was clearly the trigger point.

Jinx94 i'm sorry I have no helpful advice but just wanted to say I get it. It's not as simple as feed every day, be nice to him etc. My pony did 3 weeks refusing to be caught, walked him down for hours, wore him out, sat quietly, behaviourist, fed him, penned him, drugged him. It was only when he got laminitis (mid winter) that he finally let us catch him. And he loves people, cuddles etc.
I get it too op.
I have a pony here who I got from the Blue Cross as a companion a few years ago. I was told he could be hard to catch but figured once I’d won his trust we’d be fine!
Winter is kind of ok. He accepts a routine of coming in for food because he’s hungry, I have about a half hour time slot to catch him!!! Too early or too late not a hope 😩
I can usually deal with this as it’s only my horses here and at worse I can often get everything else in and let him follow loose. Even then I’ve sometimes struggled.
It would be a nightmare if he ever needed daily treatment or medication or something.
I completely understand.
