Still horse hunting and getting fed up with it

It sounds very silly but I believe the right horse will find you :)

Maybe just give it a rest for a bit, don't let it keep taking over and you never know your perfect horse might find you!

I can totally sympathise though, it took me 6 months to find my perfect horse then he went and died and the thought of horse hunting again made me ill with stress, good luck and I'm sure your perfect neddie will find you soon :)

I personally would give it a couple of weeks break.

when we were searching for ours it took several months and after being let down a number of times the thought of searching was really stressing us out.

A break does the world of good :)

16.1-16.3, 5-12yrs, ISH type, middleweight, good in traffic and all ways and must jump. Budget up to 3.5k. Im North West.

Not particularly north west but looks a nice type, would query the green in traffic part:

Doesn't list location but a nice type:

Slightly over budget but most people are somewhat negotiable:

I looked for ages for my horse - i gave up in the end and shared for a couple of days a week - share horse wasn't what I was looking for, but I ended up buying him and he fantastic - we found each other when I stopped looking.

Your a star competitiondiva!

First one, Ive seen that ad before & they had a few for sale. Dealers are a no go for me.

The second one looks nice so worth a phone call.

I rang up about the third one a few weeks ago, he'd been sold.

Fourth one, nice but again dealer.

Fifth one nice, but cant work out whether it is a pure TB or not, but worth a phonecall.

Im willing to travel, maybe I am being too picky but my fingers have been burnt in the past with dealers so Im very wary of going near them.

serephin - Im not riding at all in between. I have to go to a riding school where the only one locally has plods and I mean plods to ride which I cant afford to do if Im horse hunting.

A few more but as you say you may have to travel!!! If this is the case, i strongly suggest you get the owner to send you video footage, I found this when stallion hunting that I'd see a stallion that conformationally I liked and that had a good action photo taken, but that's one moment in time, and so often in the flesh I didn't like them, at least seeing the horse in video you get a feel for it's action, soundness, ability etc.

Just out of interest Silverstar, why wont you go to a dealer? I have purchased my last 3 horses from dealers and not had a problem at all. Granted you to need to go to a reputable one but you probably have more ' protection' buying from a dealer than privately. Anyway. I sincerely hope you find what you are looking for soon.

My sister knows someone with a 16.3hh 13 yo for sale. Think at £9K he's rather over budget though! Not sure why they're asking so much for him mind!

Willow (1st one) is sold I was going to see it 2 weeks ago and she phoned to say sold.

Bought my mare from a dealer and she's fab, though poor when I bought her.

Before I threw in the towel on private sellers and bought from a dealer, I'd had a vetting done on a nice, just what I wanted, grey gelding from a private seller.
Turns out I could of made a very, very expensive mistake!

A lot depends on luck and being in the right place at the right time and of course it helps to be flexible and open minded. If I had stuck to my guns I would of never of gone to see Ellie and then I would of missed her!

Don't fret, you'll get there. Good Luck!

I personally suspect you are being too fussy, I would go and view a lot more horses as long as they were fairly local and certainly would not nock them out of the equation if they were for sale by a dealer, most dealers are not dodgy as their livelehood depends on it, and even dodgy dealers have the odd nice horse, just go with your eyes wide open although you should do that anyway.

My friend has a horse for sale ( out of your budget ) and it is a smashing horse and a lot of horse for the money it is for sale however she is still having a lot of time waisters viewing a lot overestimate their riding ability ( this is not a novice horse however not a psycho either is a smashing bold eventer and could do well) and therefore go and view the wrong type of horses, they ask silly questions and worry about the wrong things. Not saying this is the case with op though however it is the case with a lot of people looking who are failing to find in this buyers market.

edited to add I do practice what I preach I have always bought the first horse I see and not bought a bad one yet. ( ok the fact they were the first I saw does make me very lucky )

totally agree as i have had the amazing horse for 3 weeks and she found me as i wasn't looking ans she was under your budget

Some nice ones here,a few to ring up. Does anyone know if the above ads/sellers are reputable?

Lanerch - I think you are right about dealers and not all are as bad as the ones Ive had dealings with. It just makes me very wary of them.

Definately worth trying a reputable dealer- (google their number,or search for their name on here, will tell you all you need to know!!) both of mine came from reputable dealers and the horses have been fantastic and exactly as described. And they may have more than one for you to try, so if you do have to travel slightly further to see one, you may have afew to try.

The one private seller I went to ended up as a horrible mistake!!
Have a break from looking for abit as I know it can end up being quite stressful and you want it to be an enjoyable experience-the right horse will be out there for you!! :)

thats got to be good news, if they were dodogy providing they have been dealers long enough then you would find a lot of info as bad experiances tend to be written about more than good experiances.

good luck :)
