If anyone has time to look or knows of anything suitable.

Ideally within reach of the West Midlands..


If anyone sees anything suitable send it my way....

I'm looking for something sane and sensible. Something that will look after me as my challenging mare has chipped away at my confidence.

It must be proven good in country traffic as we get tractors, cyclists, motorbikes etc on our lanes. I'm not looking for a plod as I'd like to go out on fun rides and local riding club shows (prefer dressage and jumping to showing). Don't need a world beater just a trusty willing friend.

I'm 5'6 and just under 13st dressed. I like natives and cobs but have an open mind. I would prefer a gelding but consider a mare. Prefer between 6 and 12 but again won't rule out something otherwise perfect. Colour doesn't matter. Ideal horse would be max of 15.3

Most important thing is temperament and character. Everything else is negotiable 😁

Budget - I'm more interested in the right horse but ideally not too much over £3.5k. I would push upwards towards £5k for the right one.

Ref #: 190590 horsequest, crap confo and I don't like pasterns. Useful sort if its better in the flesh.

Ref #: 190289 possibly lighter framed in the flesh than the photo's suggest


Ref #: 189269 - won't jump, is it sound I wonder

Ref #: 188890 - might need to be a tad cheaper given age, but he looks a sweetie and fun.

I think he would struggle, he is another that is extremely green and doesn't use himself very well, I wondered if he had come from abroad looking at how he spent so much time on the lanes in the middle or the wrong side of the road!! he may have been mainly driven and more used to be in the middle but the hacking made uncomfortable viewing at times.

190289�� Sold! Although I'm not sure I could do him justice

I may have to make sure I win the lottery this weekend so I can have them all!
 
There's a lovely Highland gelding on FB for £2.5K, seems underpriced but maybe they're more interesting in a good home? He looks fab. I'll try and hunt out the advert...
 
Beautiful 14hh, cream dun, 9 year old reg highland gelding. Rory was shown as a youngster with some brilliant results in hand, broken at 5 and done a handful of shows under saddle due to no consistent rider. He is an absolute delight to have around and easy to do in every way. He loves attention and enjoys his work. Forward, responsive ride, enjoys hacking round our off road ride and is good in open spaces. He is good to catch, farrier, bath. His future lies only in a competent knowledgeable home who will fully appreciate this one in a million pony. He will be your best friend and will be equally happy going on long pleasure rides or turning his hoof to prelim dressage. Selling on behalf of a friend. Ah, I've seen Rory. My only concern was that he has only hacked off road. My absolute no 1 red line is that anything I buy must be proven solid in traffic. I want to be able to hack out with my friends and enjoy it and not wonder if I'm going to die 😲😂😂
 
My friend is selling her boy - he's on sales livery out Hereford way. He's bigger than you were after, but a lovely solid type and may be worth a look. He hacks alone and in company, doesn't bat an eyelid at traffic. Lovely gentle guy and an entertaining character. I do miss seeing his big ginger face over the stable door!

Have you spoken to them about it, personally I'd still consider him - he might be a saint in traffic if given the chance? You wouldn't regret getting a Highland imo, I can't fault my boy. If you're a member of the Highland Pony Group on fb, have a look for the video of the two kiddies riding bareback, Archie hadn't really been around children an awful lot and was a bit apprehensive initially but a couple of months down the line and he's taking perfect care of them. He's worth his weight in gold!

Seller is a friend of a friend with glowing references which is always a bonus.

I've asked about traffic. He has seen farm traffic and show traffic and been sensible so I'm getting very tempted!

Friend says he's not big enough. I just replied say "it's a highland!"

A horse that hasn't seen traffic can be introduced to it sensibly and learn to be confident in the vast majority of cases. A horse that's only hacked off road because it's had a bad experience or been introduced to traffic badly, and thus is reactive to it, is a different ball game... This one sounds very much worth a look!

You'd be absolutely fine on a well put together, fit, slim highland of 14hh or so. Mine have carried much more than that with friends quite happily.
