Well, my lad is still lame. He had wedges on last Tuesday..was on 3 danilon a day for two days, upped to 4 for two days and has now been on 5 (2.5 twice daily) for two days..and still lame, possibly slightly worse. Am ringing the vet to reevaluate tomorrow. He’s booked in for x-rays next week, as early as we can, but surely on 5/day he should be sound or improved?

Forgive my ignorance. Is danilon a NSAID ? My mare had her high heels on Wednesday. She's now very confident on her feet but still unsound in canter, we had to try her to find out.
She's that confident she's back to jumping the fences after two years lameness. Is that an omen?

Sorry to ask, but that does seem alot of Danilon to be on ..... is he a big horse

5 sachets a day is quite a lot - is he a big horse? Is he definitely eating it all or maybe spilling some of his feed? I would have expected to see some improvement after 5 days unless he has a fracture or something.

I'm sorry,I dont know your horse's history - has he been nerve blocked? Is the lameness definitely foot related? I am surprised he has been shod with wedges prior to being x rayed?

Sorry, previous post here -http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=NEWLOUNGE&Number=3220438&Searchpage=1&Main=3220438&Words=+TripleSandH&topic=&Search=true#Post3220438

He is 17hh and I started him on less as could only feed once a day, instructions are to begin on 2 sachets per 480kg horse 2x daily, he's 600kg+ so would be 2.5 sachets 2x daily.

Two tubes of sedalin for mane pulling...not a thing. Neither vet or I are willing to try nerve blocking, there just isn't a chance in hell of getting it, gah!

My horse is 780kg and it took nearly 2 weeks for there to be any improvement with Danilon. It depends on how lame your horse is and what has caused it.

Danilon is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, it has taken over from traditional bute as it has less side effects on the stomach lining and liver.

My horse was on 2 packets twice a day for 3 days, then 1.5 for 3 days and then 1 twice a day for 2 days and then 1 once a day. The minimum treatment is 14 days.

hb6-did you read the dosage instructions? You appear to be giving for a 480kg horse..
Having discussed with the vet we are taking him off it and waiting for the x-rays, ideally would be this week but as I have no transport just not possible.
Thanks guys.
