Ok, now late July, I am still rugging Fly in Rainsheet. My neighbour has not rugged her horse at all (doesn't believe in it) and her horse has started to go really woolly with the start of a winter coat! Have left Fly naked tonight, meant to be mild 13 degrees and dry. Oh I hope so. Of course I won't sleep for worrying but if its not too wet its too hot. What a worry!! Does anyone else have the same dilemma? I have never watched the weather forecasts as closely as I do now.

I am exactly the same, sitting just now wondering whether to go put rug on! Think my girl has only had one night rug free, not good!

Nope, all of mine have been out 24/7 unrugged, and they are not getting woolley yet!

Mine has been wearing a thin rug at night as she has been clipped out but tonight is rugless. I also ride her in the morning so want her dry

Mine have been wearing thin rugs although tonight (at the moment) they are without them. They are thoroughbreds with very fine coats. Some people I know with resting racehorses who have been turned out rugless have had to bring them in as they have rainscald - in July! Might add mine also have the option of coming in - an option they have been taking up most nights throughout the last 6 weeks or so!

I've noticed one or 2 rogue hairs but nope mines unrugged, wierd thing too no fly's in her paddock but step over the electric fence & there's loads...why's that?

Mine are unrugged but they have access to both natural shelter and a field shelter all the time. We have not had any problems with rain scald. They are still in summer coats but I noticed since yesterday that they are shedding more hairs than usual when groomed...

Ours are all unrugged and out 24/7 including the two 2 month old babies and they're fine no signs of winter coat! Babies are now losing baby coat though and little girly one is changing colour!

Ours have been unrugged for a while now - other than fly sheets.

No sign of winter coats

Mines a wimpy TB and shivers at the thought of rain!

Hes been with a rain sheet on. I cant win! I Left it off after id ridden. Went round for a chat with the YO, ended up going shopping with her, came back to the farm, was just about to go home and it started raining. so put his rug on,it chuked it down for 10 mins then went sunny and hot again

Everytime i take his rug off it rains, then when i leave it on its really sunny

Left it on last night so he would be dry for his lesson at 2pm today and now its really sunny and warm and i feel guilty for him having it on
