still too fat??

hi,

was wondering what everyone thought of his weight he is , 435kg on weigh tape and 15hh. Still not sure of his breed, have another post asking what his breeding is!! but wondering what people thought if he still needed to loose some more???

Personally I'd like to see him a little slimmer just bearing in mind time of year and the grass spurt that we'll probably have towards the end of summer.

He has a very thick cresty neck which would worry me (my HW cob has one too!) and could perhaps lose a bit of belly but he doesn't look too fatty around the shoulders.

My HW 15h cob weight tapes at 468kg and you can see and feel his ribs but has put on a little in his new field althought they've eaten it all down so the weight is starting to come off again. Can't tell from the piccies - are his ribs visible or can you feel them by gently pressing down?

Here's a side pic of my HW at probably his slimest (although he's a bit bigger now - damn grass!)

aww he is gorgeous weigh wise he isnst too bas i think he just needs toned up a bit now as for breed there is definitely highland in there and i may be wrong but poss a bit of connie?

i think his weight is perfect, he is quite cobby so would look silly really slim! his neck looks like his build, mine has always had a huge neck!! he would do well in hunter classes!

In terms of breeding, he looks like my welsh section d (except he is bay).

And yes, I think he is a bit fat still, but that is from someone who just yesterday had her very sick, laminitic mare PTS after the pedal bone came through the hoof. That was due to infection but also the grass goodness complicated things. I want her death to serve a purpose. He's not excessively podgy and I think actually it would be a case of toning rather than weightloss in this case. My gelding is having the shock of his life!

Would like to see a photo of him from the back as very difficult to assess condition without that. But he looks like it is more about muscling up than anything else from the side shot.

He's very handsome and I agree with the others - definitely Highland in him but crossed with a Connie would be my guess.
