We bought our place for a bit under the asking price and home report value. So it can be done but it will depend on the area and how quickly properties sell.
Yeah we could but then that costs money too and he's very involved in our kids so he'd feel he was missing out. My own business means I could really do with having him around in evenings as well so I can go to appointments and he has the kids (Im an estate agent).That’s a good idea. OP could you look at renting a little flat for him to stay during the week?
Yes absolutely. Im an estate agent where I am now so know the market here (everything here generally goes for home report value and up), but Im not sure how much over things go for in the Stirlingshire area specifically? Id heard Edinburgh things went for a good £20k-£30k over which for us is not doable as we dont have any extra cash over and above our mortgage and they only lend to HR value... its all thoroughly depressing...Also be aware that in Scotland, you will normally be expected to offer over the asking price. A friend from down south kept doing the English thing of offering well under and expecting to haggle. She couldn't understand why her solicitor was tearing his hair out!
