Can I ask if there is a huge difference in stirrup irons and if there is why? I need to get some more as the ones that came with the saddle I bought are a little too small and there seems to be such a huge contrast in price on them from £1.00 to £115 on eBay . I dont want to spend too
Much but am wary of making a false economy ?????

There are lots available, standard, safety release, springy ones etc

If you are just looking for a bog standard pair then just go for a decent make in stainless steel with rubber treads, however if you want to be safer or have any aches and pains then the other kinds may be better. Personally I use the sprenger standard irons which help with my back and knees :)

I use the hinged ones but just as happy in standard.

Just make sure they are wide enough (there is a big difference between my slim competition boots to my Grassmere everyday boots)

Happy shopping!

Well I'm 60 and like to do long hacks and Trec.
My knees have got great relief with the Sprenger 4 way stirrups.

They were expensive but are still in great condition 9 years later.
There is a new type now called Bow Balance

I haven't tried them so you would have to do another question on them.

Some of the Endurance ones are supposed to be very good too but might look a little strange if you complete in normal disciplines.http://www.horsetalk.co.nz/reviews/066-ezridestirrups.shtml

Ditto MrsD123 compositi reflex, their quite bit though.
I basically always rode in conventional ones, but these are great, they have a shock absorbing grip i think. Not too light as to have the stirrup go everywhere if you loose them (saying that i hardly ever loose them now!).
However, other people who have ridden in them say they feel a bit "weird"; i just say they need to move with the new trends!

I think they are only £21 from decathalon.
