Stirrup leathers have stretched - need new ones

Mine are pretty old (second hand) and over their time have stretched unequally and I think it's about time that I got a new pair as no matter what I try my legs will never be level and it just feels odd and makes me feel like I'm sitting skewif :rolleyes:

Which stirrup leathers are best for not stretching, are ones with webbing inside my best bet?
 
I use Keiffer Goliath ones, they are non stretch. They're quite cheap too and do what they say on the tin. I won't have leather leathers again after riding in these. I've had them 3 years now and they haven't stretched at all :)

Sounds good! Are they synthetic though? I'm a right leather snob and can't stand the feel of synthetic tack :o

Also just a thought, I'm 5'4" and weigh about 7 and a half stone, not particularly leggy and I don't ride dressage length does anyone know what size leathers I should be looking at? :o
 
I have thorowgood synthetic leathers ( I think!). You can't really tell to look at them, but I guess the feel is different. However, I've had them about 8 years and won't go back, now.
 
They are synthetic, but they don't look cheap if you know what I mean. I always like to look smart what ever I do, and these don't detract from how I look. I have black tack though, so not sure what they look like in the brown! Can't remember the size I had tho, I'm sure if you ask at your local tack shop they will tell you what the popular size ones are :D
 
i have two sets of kentaur non stretch leathers, they have webbing inside but are leather, they are still an even length, despite numerous wettings over the last year.
 
Synthetics for me but as you're very lightweight, go for decent leather leathers and swap them weekly so they stretch evenly.
 
I have Kentaurs, and also passiers. Both are leather (calfskin so soft and don't mark soft leather saddles as much) but have a nylon core so don't stretch :).
 
Arg my eyes! Just tried looking up Keiffer Goliath Stirrup Leathers on google and it came up a website with them on it, I clicked it and...... well there was a lot of leather..... but there was nothing horse related! It actually took me a few seconds to figure out what exactly I was looking at! :eek::o:D

Now slightly afraid to google Keiffer, Kentaur or Passiers stirrup leathers... or anything else for that matter! :rolleyes:

Thank you! :D I'm not a prude or anything I just wasn't expecting... that :o Did have a really good giggle after the shock had worn off though :D

Hmm... they may be a bit beyond my meagre budget for a non essential item right now :o

I'll have to *carefully* shop around a bit I think, what sort of length (shudders to think what google would throw at me :eek:) do you think I should be looking at?

What's a decent cheap brand too? :o

Haha yeh don't automatically assume links with the word 'girth' in the description are horsey websites after typing in stirrup leather lengths ;). Can't help with other brands I've only had those two since needing calfskin on calfskin leather saddles, or stirrup leather lengths really as I'm lanky so don't take standard lengths. I think the one's I've got now are kids leathers - they're quite thin but I'll get the measuring tape to them :)

Interesting. I could do with some new leathers as mine have really stretched! What length should I get? I'm 5'2 but have my 5'10 trainer ride my pony too..... :)
 
My Lemetex leathers have been fab - an eBay bargain. Look for ones that have only been used lightly for showing / tack and turn out... Mine were as new.
 
Passier leathers are fabulous. Soo soft and non-stretch. I don't know how much they are as saddler threw them in for 'free' when I bought new saddle.
 
I have Passier stirrup leathers and they are loveeeely! Beautiful soft leather (bought them so that my new saddle wouldn't get ruined!) and they are non-stretch too.

They did look nice but they are just a bit beyond my budget for the moment when I can make do with the ones I've got really :o I could buy a pair of cheapies and not feel too guilty but I'm not sure whether it would be worth it, found a set of Geetac ones online for about a tenner but I don't even know if Geetac is a good make for a cheap set :/

The ones I have came "ready stretched" at different degrees :rolleyes: They are pretty old, they were a spare pair at the yard the YO gave me when I got my second hand saddle :) When I get new ones I'll swap them round every week though :D
