Stirrup leathers ...how much will they stretch

I was slightly astounded when my new saddle arrived today. From Antares in France they only sent it on Monday! Highly recemmend them.

But the stirrup leathers look a bit short to me does anyone have any idea how much they might stretch? Not looking forward to packing them up and sending them back to France!

I think thats a bit of a how long is a piece of string question! I have brought mega cheap leathers in the past and they haven't stretched at all, and I have had really lovely expensive leathers, and they have stretched like billyo!!

As above it can depend upon the leathers. If they have a nylon core then personally I would not expect them to stretch at all.

I also agree with Flo_Bell!
Our Jefferies ones have not stretched on bit, shires ones have stretched LOADS! Unevenly aswell!

Depends as the others have said on the construction. I was always taught to alternate which leather is on the mounting side.

Hello and thanks these are Antares very good quality leather? Have no idea whether they have a nylon core.

I would expect them to have stitching all the way down the leather if they have a webbing core - usually that sort of leathers just have a thin soft leather outer to cover the webbing and they can often be quite thick as well. If you only have stitches next to the buckle then they are probably all leather.
