Stirrup Leathers... Superstitions??

I had a dilema last night... I was riding with my stirrups on the 14th hole and I wanted to drop them to lengthen my leg position. Well, when I put them down to 12 they were too long, and there was no way I was riding on 13!! ended up crossing my stirrups and riding without! I am now off out to buy a new pair of stirrup leathers. I am not a superstitious person, but I just could not bring myself to ride on hole 13! I am sure I have loads in the past, as the hole is used, I must have just not thought about it!

Does anyone else have adversions to riding on the 13th hole, or do you just get on with it? Be interesting to know.

I hope your stirrups have numbers on otherwise you actually counted and that's weird! lol You could always just make another hole in them at the bottom, then it wouldn't be 13....lol

Lol, yes they have numbers on them. I didn't think about making a hole in them though...

13 is unlucky for some...

Its also very lcky for other people. If i had to opt for one of those three holes (not that i even think about the numbers (saddo. hehehe ) I would have gone fo 13 as I find it an extremely lucky number for me!

No.13 is the length I ride at for XC!!! Hasn't brought me any bad luck so far...!

i was born on the 13th!!!!

ps if you want to buy some new ones don't but jumpers horse line, the holes were not equal and they stretch loads!!

I always consider the number 13 to be lucky...don't know why, I just like to convince myself that is must be cos I was born on it

I always ride on 13, unless i ride in my different boots (sole is different thickness) then i put them down a hole, ive never thought of it until now either lol x

Daughter was chuffed to get No 13 at the local show last week. Certainly was lucky enough for her (2nd in Horse and Hound, 5th in jumping, 3rd in style and performance). Her (little pony) sturrups are on holes 3-6 though depending what she's doing.

Lol, I love all the suggestions! I am sure I have ridden on hole 13 many times (it is well used) but I just can't bring myself to at the moment.
