I am so fed up with buying leathers that stretch... and always seem to end up with one longer than the other even though I religiously change them over every time I tack clean. It is annoying when you have to punch holes into otherwise perfect leathers, just because one has stretched more than the other.
What are the best ones on the market ? I don't want synthetic..I prefer leather.
Any suggestions gratefully received... Thanks.

Get one either with a nylon centre or backing. They dont stretch. Personally I use Gallop ones, cheap and cheerful, but always the same length. They are leather with a nylon backing and last for ages

I just bought a pair of cotswoldsport ones, not too pricey and the leather is nice and soft, have the nylon core so they wont stretch

Bates - love them - they dont stretch at all - loved my Jefferies ones but the difference is rediculous, they are a whole hole out of sync!

I had the Jefferies elite ones which were lovely but did my head in as were so chunky!! Got some pre stretched Harry Dabbs ones onow which are fab so far...

I've never had a pair of leathers that have stretched...why is my next question?...am I doing something wrong, am I riding in an abnormal manor?

I don't buy overly expensive leathers (well not when I've bought leather ones) however my last pair of synthetic ones by keiffer cost more than any of the leather ones in the shop! do you get it more from mounting?...I always mount from a block (unless on hack or a show etc) could this be the reason

baffled lol

Do you use these with a leather saddle? Does the synthetic backing cause any problems.

I'm now on my 3rd set of stirrup leathers after my stubbens stretched - got another set of leathers which stretched within 2 days and then was advised to use wintec reinforced ones which have not only stretche but scraped my saddle.

I'm on the look out for another pair too so just wondered if these ones would be ok with a leather saddle?

Babybear.

I use them on both leather and synth saddles no problem. The nylon is on the inside, so leather against saddle. I buy mine off ebay about £10 a pair!

Lemetex make very good stirrup leathers, according to their guy at head office in Switzerland they sell more stirrup leathers than anything else!!!
I suppose that speaks for it's self!!!

I just bought some synthetic ones! I'm lucky in that they match the colour of my saddle very well and have had no trouble, since I bought them two years ago. I got sick of both sides stretching!

Is this a joke??? What a thing to say!!!

My stirrup leathers have stretched dreadfully - these recommendations are really helpful!

What are you doing to all your stirrup leathers to stretch them!? In 10 years I've never managed to stretch a pair? All mine are still the same length, and I have got rather a few pairs (seem to collect saddles)

I don't think the leather quality of most stirrup leathers is up to much tbh - or perhaps it's the way they're tanned.

Even using a mounting block & switching over the stirrup leathers, mine have stretched an insane amount & the dye comes off, too.

I tend to put my weight a little too much to the left which causes some stretching but I do swap them regularly and they are still uneven.

ive got some loveson (i think- dunno) but they are wicked hardly stretched at all - they are on mollie's saddle.

I tried the Gallop and they have marked my saddle badly. The seller on e-bay doesn't want to know. Wants me to send them back to her for her to examine!! So I will pay extra postage and she will probably deny anything is wrong. Have now gone to PayPal to contest the issue!! They are cheap - but there is a principle involved!!! Have offered to have a saddler look at the saddle!!! Seller doesn't reply!!

You see I don't like our leathers, they are like the buffalo heavy duty ones you have for polo. On the other hand not a single one has ever broken!!

I have thinner calfskin bonded leathers, as I find they are nicer to ride with (sorry dad
