Occasionally I am allowed to ride my daughter’s 17hh horse but unfortunately her legs are longer than mine so I need to buy myself some stirrup leathers just for me (I’m not allowed to make more holes in her stirrup leathers). My dilemma – she has a new Equipe saddle and is adamant that any stirrup leathers must not mark the lovely new leather and I simply can’t afford or justify spending nearly £200 on a pair of Equipe leathers – so does anyone have any suggestions as to some reasonably priced leathers I can buy for the infrequent times that I ride that won't mark the saddle flaps?

I sincerely hope you don't pay for the horse.

If it were me, I would get a calf wrapped pair that is longer and then put holes in. That way you can both use them without having to swap them around all of the time.

Top quality ones don't have to be £200. I just did a quick search and these Amerigo ones are comparable at £75 on ebay, but may be too big (don't know what size you want).

In fact, there are brand new Equipe ones for under £100. All sizes, both colours.

EQUIPE EMPORIO STIRRUP LEATHERS ST06

A superb pair of non-stretch stirrup leathers with stainless steel buckles. Available in three lengths and two colours.

These beautiful leathers feature a nylon non-stretch core wrapped in the softest Italian leather. Ideal for use with modern calf leather saddles which can mark easily with hide stirrups. They compliment the Equipe range of saddles perfectly but are equally at home with any leather saddle.

The £94 includes postage.

I have bliss mono leathers. They are very soft, and are very easy to swap over. At least way you can treat yourself to some nice stirrups too ?
